About Valerie...
Designs by Val is a "modern, chic, sweet & fun" greeting card company based in Vancouver, BC. As a little girl, founder and designer Valerie Lau soon discovered something she had as much love for as chocolate: arts & crafts. This soon developed into a passion for creating paper goods. Going into a stationery shop was just as good, if not better, than going into the local bakery.
When she's not designing she can be found catching up with friends at a local eatery, taking a walk/run at a nearby park, flipping through the latest fashion and home décor magazines, trying to get past page 50 of a novel, shopping, and just living what she loves.
Designs by Val...
Each card often starts out as a simple sketch or a cluster of words. After much attention to the image design and colour palette, a new card is happily added to the Designs by Val collection.
Designs by Val cards are printed locally on high quality linen finish cardstock and individually packaged. Select cards are hand-embellished with jewels and hand-tied ribbons (which Valerie often ties while listening to music or watching her favourite shows). Eco-friendly cardstock that consists of 30% - 100% post-consumer recycled material and biodegradable clear bags are used whenever possible.
